Panasonic EVA1
Here is a short doco piece I shot during San Diego Comic Con 2018, for a series of stories on pop culture and the cosplay phenomenon
I met the lovely Linda Nguyen through a good friend & photographer, Christine Durand Alba, who drove 8 hours from San Francisco to join me on this project. That’s commitment!
It was such a pleasure to do a story on Linda. Her attention to detail and passion for her craft is astounding. I was so grateful for her time and the opportunity to capture these moments.
This was also my first major assignment outside Australia with the Panasonic EVA1, so I made sure I took it through its paces. Nonetheless, it was a joy to use and has become my main camera of choice ever since.
I travelled extremely light on this trip. Armed with 2 zooms, the camera, an ifootage cobra monopod and several small LEDs, plus the Small HD focus along with the terrific Tascam DR-10s for audio, I had a pretty powerful yet compact kit at my disposal.
I enjoy creating these pieces like these with minimal equipment, in hope that I’m able to focus more on the story and capture poignant messages in each one.
Once again, massive thanks to Christine for her love, commitment, support and logistics. I owe you one Christine. And of course Linda, for the wonderful hospitality and for saying “yes”.
